Norfolk Arms v St. Francis are often great games and this was arguably one of the best.

Perfect weather and a well prepared pitch (thanks to Ree and Bosch for pre match prep) set the scene for what was to be our penultimate league match of the 13/14 season.

As is becoming clear to those of you who actually read these reports my cerebral capacity for recalling who, what and when is limited. Anyway here we go…

Game kicked off and Arms started the stronger, it was against this early pressure that St's scored the first try of the day, a well worked break down our right flank. 0-5. It wasn't too long before Arms were back in it with a fabulously worked try from Andy Whatley in the centres. Tim Laker chipped over the conversion giving us a 7-5 lead. Tim added to his tally with a penalty from 25 yards out giving a 10-5 lead.
St's once again scored on the counter but failed to convert. 10-10. Norfolk were always one step in front of the visitors and its with a degree of justification that the ever reliable Mooey drove head first for yet another burrowing try, Tim added the extra 2 points. 17-10 at half time.

Second half was similar to the first - 40 minutes in length - in that it was a little like a classic heavy weight boxing match with both parties stood toe to tow exchanging the heaviest of blows. Norfolk scored first with Ali Hoare powering his way over the line sadly Tim missed the con. St's then scored yet another length of the pitch try bringing the score to 22-15. Prince Harry was next on the Norfolk score sheet with a wonderful try in the left corner, sadly this narrowed the angles for Tim who just missed his conversion attempt. 27-15. St Francis then followed this with their last of the game, 27-22. Finally and after considerable pressure from the Norfolk Pack, Ali Hoare got his second from a tap penalty, Tim missed this one too! Final score 32-22.

Great game from all. Special mention to Pete Purdey for a fine performance at 9 and also a couple of our newer players in Jon, Harry and Gavin.

Last game of the regular season next week. Sussex Police at Wiston.
BBQ and beers post match in Church Street for what will be a Club Day.
