Steyning played host to Midhurst on Saturday, the first of the return fixtures for this season. The weather was much cooler than the 25c we had at Cowdray Park in September but from the off, Steyning were on fire! You can check out the scoring sequence and try counter on here, but it was fast and furious. Peter Cay shone on the back row, popping up to finish so much good work from the forwards and touched down for 6 tries himself. Tim Laker sat in the 10 shirt and picked the right play at the right time. Spectators thoroughly enjoyed themselves from the touchline as Steyning simply played at half a pace above their visitors.
Credit is due to Midhurst who gave a full and tough account of themselves, never swirling from the hard fought encounters in the middle.
Steyning are away to Hove next week, another test as each league game is at our level.
