Steyning send the Saints marching home!

After a resounding win against Ditchling the previous week we were playing host to our good friends from St. Francis of Crawley. Typically gritty and hard fought affairs, but this was a game unlike many before it... In truth difficult to recall all the action, but in a sentence:
From the off Steyning capitalised on two errors from St Francis and scored two very quick tries, which in turn seemed to knock St Francis off.. a steady stream of break away tries from Steyning saw the scoreboard ticking over at something close to a point a minute! Fair play to St Francis for sticking at it and making us work for every point. It must be said that the scoreline flattered us, but the result was fair. Huge games from all Steyning players, Dave Neale with his MOTM performance off the back row was a hard choice given how many guys played out off their skins. Damo Roberts seemed like a man possessed and as for Pater Cay who game on for the second half on the back of a 12 hour night shift and scored a hat-trick...
Special thanks to Jon Halsey the referee too, he was a last minute appointment and travelled a long way from Forest Row to give us a very good game.
Away to Shoreham next Saturday!
