Hove away is always a closely competitive fixture and this was the exact same. Steyning turned up with unknown confidence having had a tough outing in the league last year. The game started well with powerful carries from Louie Laurence-Fuller and Dave Neale getting Steyning on the front foot. Pete Carter kicked the team into excellent positions on the field and Steyning's impressive pack helped to maintain full pressure on the opposition. The game was a back-and-forth affair with exciting end-to-end action with both teams scoring excellent tries. Steyning's first half tries came through excellent hands and distribution. Steyning held a narrow lead heading into half time. Second half continued with the same intensity as the first. Player coach, Nathan Roberts had some immense carries in the second half barrelling people out of the way and led from the front. Charlie Ansell put in a huge shift around the park and caused all sorts of problems for the opposition. With Steyning winning 28-30 with the clock turned red, Hove had an attacking scrum - last play of the game. They attacked from deep, broke the line and with one final pass to go to hands, fumbled a 3 v 1 attack. Game over. Steyning win - 28-30.
