As in previous weeks I must apologise for the unstructured approach to writing match reports. I was unable to get any photos from the game, so would be grateful if anyone has some?
Norfolk were always going to find this a hard game to win with the limited playing numbers we had. An odd set of coincidences meant that with holidays, an ever increasing injury list and a few X File excuses we had a starting 15 and no subs, 2 or 3 of the 15 shouldn't have been playing but will always step up.
St. Francis took advantage of a slow Norfolk and scored a couple of early tries.
Sadly Jim Manville couldn't carry on with is shoulder.
St. Francis scored some more and think it was 19-0 at half time.
The 14 men in red then rallied for the next 10 minutes and scored a couple of tries, sadly St. Francis were matching us.
The last 10 of the game saw St. Francis score a handful of tries giving a final score of 52-12.
I know its an old cliche, but the scoreline really doesn't show how hard fought and tight this match really was. Its absolute credit to all 15 who played that they stuck at it and when given the opportunity went looking to get the game back.
My man of the match was Will Farthing, who in only his second senior match left the comfort of his favoured second row and played at 13 for us. True to form he excelled and defended with his heart on his sleeve.
We have no fixture secured for next week. Unlikely to pick one up as we need to recover from the injuries.
A note for the players. We are looking at new training options as the nights have drawn in. Also looking at dropping the tuesday session all together. We'll let you know.
